Dehns has had an office in Munich where the European Patent Office (EPO) is based since 1979, from where it has delivered IP services to German and UK clients, and an increasing number of major international clients, including from the US, Japan, China and South Korea.
Our history
The Munich office has been shared with a German firm of patent and trade mark attorneys, the future firm of Kudlek Grunert & Partner (KGP).
In 2013, partners of both firms, Dehns and KGP, founded the Joint Venture Dehns Germany with a view to expand its offer to clients especially in China and Japan. Dehns Germany proved to be a big success, also in the U.S., and lead to an even closer partnership of the two firms.
In April 2021, after having been in close association for more than 20 years, Dehns announced its merger with KGP. With the addition of the highly experienced KGP team, Dehns expanded its existing offer with an enhanced level of expertise and knowledge in a number of different technology and legal areas.
The enlarged German team focuses on domestic German clients, as well as servicing existing and new clients from around the world, providing a comprehensive European IP offer for businesses of all sizes in any technology sector.
