Thomas has many years of experience in preparing European and German oppositions and defending European as well as German patents under opposition and is a representative before the Unified Patent Court. He has been involved as lead patent attorney in patent litigation teams enforcing patents as well as defending potential infringers  in Germany before the patent litigation courts in Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Munich. In Germany, patent litigation trials usually lead to separate nullity actions challenging the validity of the patents on which infringement claims are based. Thomas has filed such nullity actions and defended patent against them before the Federal Patent Court in Munich..

He is also  involved in trade mark disputes before the competent German courts.

He has worked for clients including ThyssenKrupp, Leica Microsystems, Strix Limited, Micromass/Waters and JPL .
